Long Form User Fatigue
To keep a prospect from abandoning a long form, break the form into small steps to increase conversion. This is for two reasons: 1) prospects only have to think about one question at a time, and 2) prospects feel committed as they continue, and they do not want to stop once they are almost done.

The question is: how do you show completion? Here are some options to test:

  • Numbered steps: This can work well, especially for odd-numbered steps, but it does not actually tell the amount of time to complete each step

  • Labeled steps: This explains the next step, setting the expectation, such as name, address, account info, and file upload. This can work well when there are few steps

  • A completion percentage bar: This can hide the number of actual steps and give the impression of time to complete
