Which Test Won?

A/B testing is pivotal in conversion rate optimization. Every other week, I share real A/B tests I’ve conducted for clients, you vote, and the following week the actual test result is revealed. Here are past tests.

Does showing a discounted subscription offer pop-up before the cart window pop-up increase successful checkouts when an item is added to the cart?

Newsletter members: 90% voted for Variation A

The actual results: Variation B won

Add to Cart 62.45% lift in conversions
Checkout 14.45% lift in conversions
Checkout Success 9.15% lift in conversions

This was a tricky one. Two things are going on here. First, the discount is not that great compared to the total price. Second, the offer pop-up interrupts the checkout process; placing the offer along with the checkout flow is better. The combination is what reduced conversations. However, the client did succeed in offering a subscription with a greater percentage off and having it on the product page.

See you next week for the next test.
